Fiscal Policy

The Colorado Fiscal Policy Institute (COFPI) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan project of the Colorado Center on Law and Policy, dedicated to justice and economic security for all Coloradans. COFPI works for changes in public policy through timely, credible and accessible fiscal policy analysis, education, advocacy and coalition-building.

COFPI was founded in 1996 as an all-volunteer coalition of advocates, educators, individuals and community-based organizations who recognized a need for timely and objective analyses of state fiscal issues and their affect on lower-income Coloradans. COFPI became a permanent project of the Colorado Center on Law and Policy in 1999. Since then, COFPI has transformed from an ad hoc coalition of volunteers to a team of researchers, lawyers and economists dedicated to justice and economic security for all Coloradans.

The Colorado Fiscal Policy Institute is part of the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative, administered by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.  Other partners include the Economic Analysis and Research Network and the Economic Policy Institute.
