Claire Levy served seven years in the Colorado House of Representatives before being selected by CCLP’s board of directors to serve as executive director. Levy’s legal, legislative and leadership experience makes her an ideal fit for CCLP. Prior to serving in the General Assembly she had a varied legal career that included a stint in the Appellate Division of the Colorado Public Defender’s Office. In that role she represented indigent people on appeal who had been convicted of serious felonies. Her job was to protect the constitutional rights of people accused of felonies, and assure that anyone convicted of a felony had received a fair trial, regardless of their income. Before running for office, Levy focused on land use law with an emphasis on affordable housing and urban development.
In the Colorado House, Levy most recently served as the vice-chair of the Joint Budget Committee and chair of the House Committee on Appropriations, where she oversaw the appropriations for many of the public benefits programs on behalf of which CCLP firstname.lastname@example.org, 303-573-5669 ext. 301
