At CCLP, Milena will help organize and coordinate public policy development and assist in coalition-building, community outreach, legislation, litigation, and administrative advocacy.

Milena received her Bachelors of Social Work at Colorado State University. While at CSU, she served as the first female Native American Senator for the Native American Cultural Center for the Associated Students of Colorado State University. In addition, she was Co-Facilitator for the Native American Task Force through CSU’s President’s Office. Milena just completed her Masters of Social Work at the University of Denver in August 2022 with a focus of health, equity, and wellness.

Milena has experience in Case Management at AllHealth Network for outpatient mental health services for Arapahoe and Douglas County. She was also on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Council at AHN where she provided recommendations for policy changes to the Executive Committee to ensure employee of color retention, as well as looked into providing more culturally competent services to those communities. Milena served as the Representative for AHN in Arapahoe County working with the Sheriff’s Office, County Commissioners, the District Attorney’s Office, and community members in bridging gaps of care and improving relations with organizations to ensure proper and adequate mental health services are provided to the best of each entities abilities.

For the last year, as she finished her masters, she has been working at HCA The Medical Center of Aurora Behavioral Health and Wellness Center as a Bed Placement Specialist for inpatient mental health in addition to interning with the American Friends Service Committee-Denver Office focusing on immigration reform at the State and Federal level.

Milena loves the inspiring energy from everyone at CCLP in the efforts to improve Colorado and she hopes to further her knowledge and pursue new opportunities in this role.
